Elections have been held in Uganda to form women’s committees of informal transport workers in ATGWU and in seven of its affiliated informal worker associations. ATGWU says that the creation of women’s committees at both the union and association level will “directly contribute to the increased visibility of women workers in informal transport”. Elections to appoint commmittee members, plus a national meeting to bring newly appointed committee members together, took place from 18th – 24th August.
