In this interview, Aisha Nateza, Women’s Representative for the Kampala Operational Taxi Stages’ Association (KOTSA), talks about why KOTSA was formed, the challenges facing informal transport workers, and her role as Women’s Representative, amongst other things.
KOTSA is a 30,000 strong association of informal taxi drivers in Kampala which became affiliated to ATGWU in June 2015. The interview was filmed during ATGWU’s Capacity Building Workshop held in Kampala, July 2015, which was attended by some of its informal worker association affiliates, as well as three unions from Kenya and Tanzania.
